- Brazil -Ā Severe Weather & Flooding and Operational Delays - Brazil Post have informedĀ Royal Mail that two weeks of severe weather have caused extensive floods in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, including the state capital of Porto Alegre. As a result, the collection and delivery of all mail types are disrupted for postcodes 9****-*** until the situation returns to normal. Also, mail despatched to Brazil since the 8thĀ June is currently subject to delay due to an operational issue at the receiving post.Ā Royal MailĀ will provide a further update on this when information becomes available.
- Georgia -Ā Georgia Post have informedĀ Royal Mail that temporary delays on all mail types may be observed while the Office of Exchange and sorting centre are going through an internal re-organisation process.
-
Iceland - Earthquake and Volcanic Activity / Storm -Ā Icelandic Post have advised that a new volcanic eruption started just north of Grindavik in the Reykjanes peninsula on Sunday 14th January 2024.Ā It is deemed likely that more eruptions will occur around the town in the coming weeks, hence It is unlikely that habitants will be allowed to return to live in Grindavik in the coming weeks or months. Iceland Post has not delivered mail in the Grindavik area since the original evacuation 13th of November 2023 and due to the area being uninhabitable it seems unlikely it will be possible to deliver mail in Grindavik in the near future.Ā Royal Mail will provide any further updates on this as they become available. Icelandic Post have also informedĀ Royal Mail that an unseasonal storm has hit resulting in road closures in the northern and south-eastern part of the country. Heavy snow and winds have closed roads in these parts of the country since the evening of Monday 3rdĀ June, making it impossible to transport mail in those parts of the country. The storm is expected to last into the week and as result delays can be expected until condition improves.
- Ireland - Customs Delays - Royal MailĀ service to Ireland is operating as normal. However, items that require the payment of import taxes by the recipient may take longer to be delivered as payment is required before items are released from Irish customs.
- Israel - As a result of the current situation in IsraelĀ Royal Mail are experiencing delays with many flight cancellations. This is a fluid situation and may change at short notice.Ā Throughout the country, the retention period for unclaimed items has been extended to 30 days.Ā All items are subject to delay and we will continue to provide updates as we receive them.Ā Please note at this time, we are unable to accept items addressed to Gaza or Khan Yunis and The West Bank.
- Japan - Japan Post have updated that theĀ situation has now improved after the impact of the earthquake in January but there is still a lot of rubble in certain areas which continues to effect their operation.Ā The postcode areas which remain affected are 9270000 ā 9299999 and delays may be experienced as result.
- Kazakhstan -Ā Kazakhstan Post have informedĀ Royal MailĀ that severe weather conditions are causing floods in the regions of Aktobe, Kostanay, Akmola, Atyrau and North Kazakhstan, with emergency situations declared within the flood zone since the 29th March 2024. -
Kiribati -Ā Infrequent Service - Connecting flights to Kiribati have been available again since the 15th of December 2022. However, please note this service is infrequent and therefore customers should expect items to take between 2-3 months to reach their final destination.
- Moldova - Due to the situation in neighbouring Ukraine,Ā Royal MailĀ have been advised that Moldovan airspace is closed.Ā Royal Mail have an alternative route in place, however, as this is a non-direct route, please be advised that there may be short delays to the delivery of your item.
-
New Caledonia -Ā There remains an issue in fully reopening La Tontouta International Airport in NoumĆ©a following the recent civil unrest.
Due to the situation, the airline is currently operating with a limited and variable flight schedule and reduced capacity. The carrier is exploring the option of sea freight with a vessel running from Auckland every three or four weeks.Ā As a result the transit time for items destined for New Caledonia will be extended due to the alternative routing required currently.Ā
- Russia -Ā Service availability - We are still despatching postal items to Russia.Ā Royal Mail are continually monitoring the situation and will provide an update if there are any changes toĀ their service moving forward.
- Somalia (unable to ship here since October 1991)

- Syria (unable to ship here since December 2012)
- Ukraine - Service availability -Ā Royal MailĀ continue to make regular mail despatch to Ukraine transiting via theirĀ Postal Partners. Ukraine Post has updated that the countryās infrastructure has suffered severe damage. The attacks on the power grid and local energy facilities are necessitating rolling power cuts lasting from one to four hours. In some cases, following a direct missile strike, power may be cut off for several days in certain areas. In areas without active hostilities, all Ukrposhta post offices will remain open. In places with up to 24 hours power outage, Ukrposhta employees will hand out postal items and pay out money orders and upload the delivery data into the system at a later stage, once power and Internet access are restored. Sorting facilities are equipped with electricity generators to ensure uninterrupted work and maintain normal customs and sorting procedures. However, operationally there may be delays. Therefore, delays should continue to be expected for items destined to Ukraine until further notice.
